Saint Petersburg State University of Economics - UNECON

St. Petersburg State University of Economics, also known as UNECON, is one of the leading Russian universities with over a century experience in educating top professionals in economics and management. In 1930 our university began to teach economics with a focus only on banking. Today UNECON includes 52 academic departments teaching 14 000 students, including 1100 students from abroad. More than 250 UNECON academic partners world-wide offer a broad range of program and multi-national research. 


UNECON is a leading university of economics in Russia. This status requires from the university fresh ideas to facilitate economic progress and to improve the quality of life in Russia. The university professionals strive to put the research results into the end products and to help reconstructing the Russian economy in accordance with the call of the time.


The Department of Marketing at UNECON was founded in 1991 as one of the first in Russia. The Department of Marketing includes 26 scholars (9 professors, 9 associate professors, 5 senior lectures and assistants); 2 Bachelor’s Programs, 2 Master’s Programs (including a joint International Master Program with TU Braunschweig – Germany), Doctoral Program (30 PhD students). The Department of Marketing trains about 1000 students including 250 Marketing majors and more than 700 Marketing minors.


UNECON main campus is located at the former building of the State Bank of the Russian Empire, which was established by Catherine the Great year 1790 and designed by Giacomo Quarenghi, a famous Italian architect. The venue was a centre of the Russian economy until 1918, the time of the Red Revolution.
